Tactical-IP™ VSAT Services

First responders, emergency and disaster planners and business continuity groups of every size need to complete the mission regardless of outages or loss of existing infrastructure.  Built from the ground up to support robust IP internetworking, Tactical-IP VSAT offers solutions that integrate Broadband Data, Voice-over-IP, LMR-over-IP, Video Surveillance, Video Telepresence and other mission-critical data communications. With access to multiple satellite networks and geographically-dispersed teleport facilities, Tactical-IP VSAT service can be accessed in a moments notice – providing reliable access to data, voice and video communications at the push of a button.

Tactical-IP VSAT service gives response teams the connectivity they need with always-on bandwidth to meet the most severe communications challenges. Through an innovative and convenient billing process, you can protect your agency from high monthly rate fees and unexpected overages, while avoiding the need to "schedule your emergency".

Highlights:

  • Provides reliable access to data, voice, and video communications
  • Up to 5 Mbps downlink and 2 Mbps uplink plans available
  • Dual-spacecraft and network hubs expands capability and redundancy
  • Look-Angle Diversity with access to two teleports - one on each coast
  • Customer-choice of Home Teleport Selection with Anytime Look Angle Redundancy

System Redundancy and Diversity:

Mission-crtitical communications require the maximum in network availability, therefore the TACTICAL-IP Network offers a multiple-tier redundant network. Redundant and diverse elements are implemented in three tiers: spacecraft, teleport and backbone. TACTICAL-IP leverages two spacecraft located at diverse look angles along the Clark Belt: Galaxy-18 (123W) and AMC-9  (83W). These two spacecraft are linked to geographically disparate Teleport facilities located on the East and West coast of the USA. The West Coast 9-meter uplink is located in Napa, CA and the East Coast 9-meter uplink is located in Woodbine, MD. Combined with a Tier-1 National MPLS network backbone, both Teleport facilities and multiple Internet peering points are interconnected at Layer-3 to offer truly redundant and transparent fault tolerance and geographical redundancy.

Plan Options:

TACTICAL-IP Responder

Tactical-IP Responder is our standard and most popular plan which allows 10 On-Air Days per month for you to deploy the system many times a month for training, testing and response operations.  Agencies have bandwidth available for high volume periods but maintain affordability for the majority of time requiring low or no volume usage.

The Responder plan offers our robust 3Mbps x 1Mbps Ku-Band Carrier Solution (across Continental United States and parts of Canada) for $325 per month. Additional overage days beyond 10 days of usage per month are billed at $55 per day. These charges are billed by the 15th of each month after the month overage was incurred.

Dual-Look Satellite Diversity is included standard on this plan.

TACTICAL-IP Responder PLUS

Tactical-IP Responder PLUS plan has all of the features of Responder, but offers a robust 5Mbps x 2Mbps Ku-Band Carrier Solution (across Continental United States and parts of Canada) for $525 per month. Additional overage days beyond 10 days of usage per month are billed at $65 per day. These charges are billed by the 15th of each month after the month overage was incurred.

Dual-Look Satellite Diversity is included standard on this plan.

TACTICAL-IP Communicator

Tactical-IP Communicator offers the ability to maximize usage days in a given month without worrying about per-day overage charges. Utilizing the Communicator plan, the terminal can transmit up to 9 Gigabytes of Inbound and Outbound IP-based traffic over the month without incurring additional charges.

The Communicator plan offers 3M x 1M Ku-Band Carrier Solution with a 6W BUC (across Continental United States and parts of Canada) for $600 per month.  Overage is charged at a rate of $0.10 per Megabyte in excess of the base 9 Gigabytes.

Dual-Look Satellite Diversity is included standard on this plan.

TACTICAL-IP Communicator PLUS

Tactical-IP Communicator PLUS plan has all of the features of Communicator, but offers a robust 5Mbps x 2Mbps Ku-Band Carrier Solution with a 6W BUC (across Continental United States and parts of Canada) for $900 per month. Overage is charged at a rate of $0.10 per Megabyte in excess of the base 9 Gigabytes.

Dual-Look Satellite Diversity is included standard on this plan.

TACTICAL-IP Bandwidth-on-Demand

All Tactical-IP service plans are a shared (burst) service, allowing service 24x7x365 days per year, with no requirement to reserve or schedule service. It’s simply always there. For those occasions where dedicated bandwidth is required, we provide either Committed Information Rate (CIR) profiles for priority traffic or 100% Dedicated Bandwidth.

For applications requiring priority over background traffic such as VoIP, Video Streaming or Video Teleconferencing, we recommend CIR to provide Quality of Service (QoS). The CIR provides a way to ensure a specific data rate for real-time applications and is enforced in the iDirect network using sophisticated QoS Mechanisms. CIR can be purchased in 64 kb increments in simplex (one-way) or duplex (two-way) configurations either ad hoc or permanently.

For advanced applications needing 100% dedicated bandwidth, TACTICAL-IP can be configured on-demand for carrier sizes up to 3Mb/s x 3Mb/s (pending equipment certification). Carriers can be dedicated in any configuration in 64kb increments on a per-day or event-driven basis. Requests for dedicated bandwidth under 2Mbps simplex or duplex can be accommodatedon a space-available basis, generally in less than 4 hours. More complex configurations requiring more than 2Mbps require additional frequency or carrier configuration, but generally can be provided in less than 12 hours.
